Who should do this microcredential?

This microcredential would suit anyone responsible for decision making within the freight and logistics industry, to impart awareness of ethical issues inherent within supply chains. It is suitable for, but not limited to:

  • Procurement managers, supervisors and leads
  • Operations, logistics or production managers, supervisors and leads
  • Supply chain managers
  • Environmental, social and governance (ESG) or sustainability officers
  • Legal or compliance officers or managers
  • SME suppliers (particularly those who do not have reporting requirements under Australia’s modern slavery laws).

Course outline

This microcredential is of six weeks duration (60 hours of learning), comprising three online modules, with a one hour facilitated and interactive Zoom session per week. Independent study and completion of assessments will also be required.

The following topics will be covered during the microcredential:

  • Supply chain process and strategies
  • Ethical and sustainable supply chain
  • Ethical procurement
  • Procurement and supply chain sustainability compliances
  • Sustainability standards, governance and reporting
  • Practical implications.

Course learning objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Apply best practices of ethical supply chain including negating modern slavery within supply
  • Critically analyse opportunities to implement ethical and safe practices across driver and other logistical roles
  • Evaluate impacts of ethical and sustainable practices in supply chain, including fair pay, safety and working hours.

Assessment

Participants are required to complete both assessment tasks and achieve at least 50 per cent of the total available grade in order to successfully complete this microcredential. The assessments are due in weeks 4 and 6. 

  • Assessment task 1: Ethics and sustainability risk factors (weight: 40%)
  • Assessment task 2: Mitigating ethics and sustainability risks (weight 60%).

Requirements

Mandatory

To complete this online course, you will need a personal computer with adequate internet access and sufficient software and bandwidth to support web conferencing. You will also require an operating system with a web browser compatible with Canvas and Zoom.
