Additional course information

Course outline

The course is delivered entirely online. It involves a clinical mentoring component and a self-directed learning component.

The clinical mentoring component:

  • Involves five 1-hour group sessions
  • Each group has an internationally distinguished Lidcombe Program trainer and five speech pathologists
  • For each group session, one group member presents a recent audio-visual recording of a Lidcombe Program video telehealth consultation
  • The recording is used by the group for discussion during the session.

Self-directed learning is the theoretical part of the course. The self-directed learning component involves three learning modules:

  • The Lidcombe Program treatment process
  • The Lidcombe Program empirical base
  • The Lidcombe Program in context.

Progress through these self-directed learning materials involves unfolding multiple-choice question pathways. Each response, regardless of whether it is the correct response, elicits a narrative for the learner.

Course learning objectives

After successfully completing this course, you will:

  • Receive certification in Lidcombe Program treatment from the Australian Stuttering Research Centre
  • Have advanced clinical skills in the treatment
  • Know the key background theoretical material that supports the treatment.
