Associate Professor Grace Li

Associate Professor Grace Li
Associate Dean Internationalisation

Grace currently holds the position of Associate Professor (Internationalisation) within the UTS Faculty of Law, with an educational background including LLB, LLM, and PhD degrees in law, along with Graduate Certificates in Business Administration and Higher Teaching and Learning. Her research commitment lies in the fields of telecommunications policy and corporate law.

Beyond her research, Grace is deeply dedicated to promoting the internationalisation of legal education, a commitment reflected in her role as the Associate Dean (Internationalisation). In this capacity, she has conceptualised and executed a range of initiatives and partnerships with international counterparts, including foreign universities, law faculties, and legal professionals. Additionally, she has undertaken visiting academic roles at universities in China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and Germany.

This two-week intensive program run by UTS Faculty of Law is designed to provide international learners with a foundation in legal theory and practice in an Australian context. Enjoy Sydney whilst attending seminars across a range of areas in law and taking part in law-related field trips.

About this course

Get a taste of life at UTS by participating in orientation week activities, engaging with UTS Law students, and exploring the surrounding city of Sydney. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the Australian Common Law system through classes and the planned field trips.

Course structure

This two-week immersive course will mix academic sessions with field trips, orientation week activities and workshops.

Academic sessions will include topics* such as:

  • Australian Constitutional Law
  • Introduction to Australian Law
  • Foundations of law
  • Ethics law and justice
  • Public International Law
  • Criminal Law and Procedure.

  • Orientation session and campus tour
  • Visit Barangaroo Reserve
  • Visit NSW Parliament
  • Visit NSW Supreme Court / District Court
  • Visit NSW Police Museum
  • Visit Australian Museum / Justice & Police Museum

  • Afternoon tea with the Dean of UTS Law
  • Feedback session and certificate presentation.

Course learning objectives

By the conclusion of this course, participants should have gained a basic understanding of the Australian Common Law system through class observation and field trips.

Withdrawal 

Please note the following variations from the general Terms & Conditions:

  • Written notice of cancellation must be provided to international@uts.edu.au
  • If the notice of cancellation is received by 5pm (AEST) two weeks prior to course commencement date, 100% of the course fee will be refunded
  • For cancellations received after that time, no refund will be given
  • No refunds or transfers to another course can be made if a participant fails to attend a course
  • The substitution of participants will only be permitted if detailed written notice is provided to international@uts.edu.au by 5pm (AEST) one week prior to course commencement.

This program is delivered entirely in English, so a sound proficiency in the English language is essential.
